About Me

I'm a user-experience designer and researcher based in New York City.

Good design isn't just about making things pretty.

As an experience designer, I know that even the best engineering and development are useless if people can’t or won’t use the results. I enjoy digging into what people really need — as opposed to what they think they need — and creating designs that facilitate their success.

I encourage both intra- and cross-team collaboration, and work to break down silos between teams. Creating intuitive and beautiful interactions that further business needs is my goal, and I always remember that at the end of every design, there are real people with real needs and real problems.   

What I do

User research

Test early and often. I use both quantitative and qualitative methods — quantitative tells you what while qualitative tells you why. Proper research helps me understand stakeholder and user needs, prioritize features, and make design decisions that improve the product and the experience.

 

Design strategy

I work to uncover and align user needs with business objectives. Good design is scalable, forward-thinking, empathetic, and thoughtful — and design decisions are based on data and research.

Experience design

Using research and competitive analyses, I create requirements, storyboards, wireframes, and clickable prototypes. I test with users and use their feedback to iterate and improve. Great experiences are seamless, intuitive, and user-focused.

 

Design leadership

I conduct workshops on design thinking, user research, design principles, and data visualization best practices. I enjoy mentoring junior designers and anyone interested in learning about design.

In my spare time, I volunteer at a local animal rescue, take photographs, get outdoors to enjoy nature and hike, and hang out with my rescue dogs.

Why user experience design?

I’ve always been creative. I wrote and illustrated stories as a child—my mother has saved them all!—and I love drawing and photography. I also was that quirky, socially awkward kid who never really fit in or understood people. So, being naturally curious, I observed people and tried to figure out why they behave the way they do.

Happily, I discovered user-experience design and research—the perfect job for someone who loves creativity, and understanding and observing human behavior.
